Manufacturer:  Russian production from Moscow, not researched further, printed 1963 , 1 to 20 million, 4 sheets of paper are glued onto canvas and fitted with rods in the classic way, the difference from typical German production is the missing overlap of the paper sheets, paper flaws are easy to spot as white patches on the blue colouring of the sea, this map here was used at one of the two German special schools for Russian with Abitur and boarding in the GDR, the EOS Erich-Weinert-Oberschule with its EWOS pupils and teachers, the second was the EOS at the Freie Schulgemeinde Wickersdorf, the EWOS subject teacher explained JAMAL to me splendidly: the peninsula in Russia (where the GAS for central Europe was supposed to come from) is called that because in Russian JA stands for I and MAL for small, I am small, the peninsula is as large as the GDR, over 100,000 km2, JAMAL, all clear. I will remember an EWOS pupil's mnemonic for the rest of my life!!!  A further school (an EOS with boarding) is said to have been in Neubrandenburg, my EWOS subject teacher of German and Russian told me nothing about that.

The schools were established in the 1950s and 1960s, and neither survived the fall of the Wall, both were wound up, graduates as well as teachers of these schools were in part superbly connected with PEOPLE of the Soviet Union, the former teachers are now dying out, these intellectual bridges are now slowly breaking away
